THE EWE FAIR.
40,000 SHEEP YARDED. SALES OPEN WITH FIRM BIDDING. All available space at the Tinwald saleyards to-dav was in demand for the yarding ot over 40,000 sheep oil the occasion of the annual ewe fair. 'lhe bulk of the entries were from Canterbury, but many lots were received from different parts _ ot the South Island. The total yarding was similar to that of last year. The quality of the lines was/ uniformly good and was superior to that of the few last sales. A feature- of the sale was the large number of pens of young ewes There was a very {arge attendance of buyers and farmers, and i the opening of the sale was marked by firm bidding. The entries included several lines of good Romney ewes, and two-tooths comprised a large percentair© of the yarding.
