NON-STOP FLIGHT.
DUNEDIN TO AUCKLAND. CAPTAIN HEWITT’S SUCCESS. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 15. The first non-stop flight from Dunedin to Auckland was successfully accomplished to-day by Captain J. VHewitt, of Auckland, in a De Haviland Moth aeroplane, lifted with a t*ypsy engine. By doing the journey in 10 hom'x exactly; Captain. Hewitt establislied a record ior long-distance fl.\ j n <r in the Dominion. He took oft from Dunedin at 6.10 a.m. to-day and landed at the Auckland Aero Club s aeiodreme at Alangere at 4.40 p.m. Throughout the trip the weather was excellent, with a light head wind. Hie pilot passed over Wellington at noon, Palmerston North at 1.15 p.m., and continuing on along the Mam I l uulc railway lino, bo reached Auckland at thc time stated. Captain Hewitt- said he enjoyed the flight immensely, aqil was not at "all tired. . The distance covered by Captain Hewitt is estimated at about 830 miles. He carried 05 gallons of petrol, and nbout 50 gallons were used.
