ENTERTAINMENTS.

MAJESTIC THEATRE. " -Masked Emotions” will bead the new bill of fare to be shown at the Majestic Theatre to-night and tomorrow night. This is said to be a thrilling story of adventure on land and sea. The two chief characters become involved in the doings of a Chinese smuggling gang, and thrills abound as the. story is unfolded. The acting is said to lie most convincing, while the settings and the photography leave little to be desired. There are gcod supporting films.

“THE FAMILY UPSTAIRS.” ( The large proportion of the people to whom c-oqTcdy proves an irresistible draw were, delighted when they learned that the Fuller Alanagement had arranged for a tour of the Dominion or the American Comedy. Company, whose accomplishments have been proclaimed by numerous capable critics. The company arrived in tire south by the ill-fated Manuka, and since then it has appeared before highly appreciative audiences in Dunedin, where the warmest appreciation of the efforts of the company was shown by audiences which are always discriminating. The Ashburton season will be for two nights, and the bookings are clear indications that it will repeat the success of the south. “The Family Upstairs” has been described as excruciatingly mirthprovoking. It is a sparkling comedy in which an involved plot would be out of place, but there is a laugh in almost every line, the story of the Heller family being enacted with delightful humour.

The box plan is now open at the Bristol, where patrons are advised to book their scats.
