Weather conditions were not quite as good as yesterday for the resumption of the Test cricket niatch, the sky being overcast, with light, white clouds, but the prospect is for continued line and possibly sunshine in the afternoon. With the score at 339 for three wickets, Page (33) and Blunt (1.5) continued New Zealand's first innings at 11.30, Barratt. at the south end, and Nichols were the bowlers . The final games in the series of croquet test matches between Australia and New Zealand will be played to-day. Australia has already won the shield, and will defend it in 1931 against England, in England. Yesterday's matches resulted:—
Ross and Stratton (New Zealand) beat Miller and Mrs Miller 26-23, 14-26, 26-23; McLeerv and Witherow beat Mrs Cole and Smith (New Zealand), 26-6, 18-26. 26-18: Windsor and Crabb beat Creed-Meredith and Mrs Watkins (New Zealand), 26-7, 26-7.
THE PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. DUNEDIN, This Day. The Dominion bowling championship tournament entered its last stages this morning with a game in the first round of the post-section play in the pairs competition. The winner of this game took part in the semi-final against Gladding and Jenkin (Carlton). This afternoon HaHiday and'Burgess (Hokonui), having already qualified, will play the subsequent winner in the final. The weather this morning was favourable, if rather dull, and the absence of wind left conditions with little to be desired. The green was again in first-class order.
The game this morning between Batchelor and Cooper (Southland) and Todd and Tamblyn (St. Kilda). who won in 1926, was won by the former by 24 to 21. The Southland pair were in particularly good form, and the game was a good exhibition by both sides.
SARRON'S CONDITIONS. WELLINGTON, This Day. Sarron, the boxer, says he has not yet signed uo to meet Donovan at New Plymouth because he is signing on condition that a return match takes place in Wellington. He has not put his signature to articles for a return contest with 'Donovan at Dunedin.
