County Hospital.—The Matron of the Ashuiirton County Hospital desires to acknowledge with thanks the following donations:—Books and magazines, Mrs Braddell and Miss Edith Brown; illustrated papers, Mrs Malet and Captain Thackeray; . green peas, .Mrs Welsh; -gooseberries, Miss McKay, of Fleniingtan. Land Sales.—.Mr D. Thomas reports that lie has sold the following properties during the last month by auction and privately as iollow:—I. C. Helmore to John Orr, 1653 acres, at Lisin ore ; J. C. Helmore to Thomas Scaly, 314 acres; J. C. Helmore to Jas. Bull 850 acres; A. J. Dent, LyndImrst, to Mr F. Campbell, acres; J. Nee, Lyndhurst, to.J. McLean, 100 acres; W. Morris, Lyndhurst,-to Jas. Beattie, 310 acres; Mrs Sutherland to K. Gates, 164 acres at Hinds; Lister to Cass, S-acre, Hampstead. Hampstead Town Board.—The. monthly meeting of the Hampstead Town Board was held last 'evening. * Present: Messrs W. J. Siloock (chairman), G. W. Andrews, G. Sandrey, and 11. Lewis. The chairman reported on the recent conference of local bodies ‘ to appoint a half holiday. It was tlioie decided to retain .Thursday as the half-holiday in .Ashburton. Dr. Finch, District Health Officer for Canterbury, attended the conference, .and the question of appointing a health officer for Ashburton was discussed, The chairman, as representative of the Board, agreed to co-operate with tile Borough Council and Tinwald Town Board in appointing such an officer. Ashburton Amateur . Cycling and Athletic Club.—i-A meeting of the committee of the Ashburton Amateur Cyc-r ling and Athletic Club was held last evening, the captain (-Air F. Robillinrd) occupying the chair. Mr L. S. MeClurg was elected a new member. Messrs F. Robilliard, W. Anderson •and D C. 1). Thomas were appointed a sub-committee to make arrangements for the first evening sports meeting on Tuesday. Messrs AV. Rundlo, A. Muller, E. J. ltighton, the captain, and the secretary were appointed a Grounds Committee, while Messrs W. Hodgkins, G. Mathias, H. Davis (Mayor), and A. Whitaker were elected judges', and Messrs Do Beer and F. . Curtis timekeepeafs.
