GREYMOUTH CARNIVAL. GREYMOTJTH, January 17. At the Grovmouth Amateur Swimming Club's carnival last night, there was a large attendance. The inclusion, of the West Coast championship events made the races of interest. The championship events decided Avere: — Men's lOOvds, won by A. H. Cunningham; 220vds, S. Mulloy: fastest time ICOyds and 50yds, Schoolboys, N. Jarden. Results:—
Men's 33 l-3vds Handicap—Boyes (4yds) 1, Wills (4yds) 2. Also started: Taafe (2yds), Doogan (2yds). Time, 21sec. A close finish. Taafe finished second, but was disqualified for starting before time. 4 Schoolbovs lOOvds Championship.— N. Jarden 1, E. Carruthers 2. The ether starter withdrew. Time, 94 1-5 SGC. Girls' 33 l-3vds Handicap—V. Daly (2yds) 1, P. Gillooly (scr) 2. The only starters: A good race. Time, 25 3-ssec.
100yds Intermediate West Coast Championship.—H. O'Leary 1, J. Or 2, 8. Diedric-hs 3. Time, lmin. 17 3-ssec. French (Hokitika) also started. lOOvds AVest Coast Championship Cunningham 1. Mulloy 2, Hardie 3. Time, lmin. 11 4-ssec. The race was a surprise when Cunnington, the Hokitika man, defeated Mulloy, the local champion. 50vds Schoolbovs' Championship.— N. Jarden- 1, W. O'Leary 2. Also started, E. Carruthers, K. McLauchlin, T>. Sullivan. Won by yards. Time, 38 l-ssec. Ladies' 33 l-3vds Handicap.—V. Daly (scr) 1, P. Gillooly (scr) 2.-Also started, J. Beck (lvd), B. Smeaton (3rds), S. Anderson (svds). A close finish. Time, 20 l-ssec. 220vds Men's Handicap.—Mulloy (scr) 'l, Restieux (9yds) 2, Cunningham (scr) 3. Time, 3min. 3 2-ssec. P. Doolan (4yds) also started.
