(Per Press Association ) GISBORNE, January 15. While loading mutton this afternoon from a lighter on to tiif liner Port Sydney, which was lying in tiny roadstead/& carcase slipped from the sling and fell on a watei'sider named Irvine Harver, aged 50, striking lum on the back Harvev was removed to the Cook Hospital, but his injuries are not serious.
KNOCKED! DOWN BY LORRY. WELLINGTON, January 15. While running across the Hutt Road at Kaiwarra this afternoon a little girl, Joan Haynes aged about four or five vears, was knocked down by a motor-lorry. She received a fractured skull and a severe lacerated wound on the forehead. Her condition was reported as serious. The patient had regained consciousness at midnight tonight.
TRAINER FOUND DEAD. GISBORNE, January 15. A man named Victor Stanley Hunt, about 38 years of age a well-known horse trainer,■ -employed by Mi J. N Thomas, was found dead m bed at his emplover’s residence this afternoon.
KILLED BY CAPSIZE OF CAR. 1 INVERCARGILL, January 15.. Catherine Turner, a widow', of fanfax was killed this morning, when a light car, driven by her daughter, capsized on' a gravelled road while deluding a } hill at Dacre. The victim SSred five minutes after the accident from head injuries. Her- daughter escaped with abrasions and shock.
