METHVEN GUN CLUB.

THE ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of members of the Methven Gun Club was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, Air S. H. Anderson presiding over a fair attendance.,. Presenting the annual report for the year, the president stated that the club had/ again experienced a successful year. The shooting competitions throughout the season had been exceptionally keen, while the standard of shooting was a very high one. The open shoots had been well supported by members ot affiliated clubs, the most successful of these matches being the National Shoot, in August. The club had also sent representatives to the North Island championship meeting, who met with a considerable amount of success. Teams had competed at the annual C’.A.C. Cup match in Christchurch as well as at all other local fixtures, and they had also met with a fair measure ci" success. Their thanks were due to the many supporters of the club for their liberal donations of trophies, which were much appreciated. The question of securing earlier starts’ for the National Live Pigeon Afatch, arid the increase in stakemoney, was a matter for favourable consideration, and! the holding of the 1930 Provincial Clay Championship was another important fixture to he considered. During the past year’the club liffc! been unfortunate in losing the services of Air J. Garden, owing to bis removal from Methven. His work since the foundation of the club, and as president of former years and later as a committeeman, had been of untold, benefit to the club, and he would bo greatly missed. Opportunity, had been taken to suitably recognise his services.

The balance-sheet showed that the club had a credit-balance of £ll9 2s 7dl. The total assets were £lB9 2s 7d, and liabilities nil. The report and balance sheet were considered highly satisfactory and were adopted. A letter was received from ATr J. Garden regretting his inability to at-, tend, and wishing the club success in the future. It was resolved, in view of Air Garden’s past services to the club, that he be elected an honorary life member. The election of officers resulted as follow: Patron, Air AY.' Fnirclough ; president, Mr G. A. vicepresidents, Alessrs L. C. Anderson, H. J. Freeman and E. F. Ward; club captain, Air C. C\ Winn ; hori secretary and treasurer. Air A. AV. Bremer; handicappers and referees, Alessrs. T. S. Harrison and S. H. Anderson; teams selection committee, Alessrs Franks. Winn and Harrison; trappers, Messrs D. Kjlworth, D. and H. Harrison ; programme committee, Alessrs Cooksley, Harrison, and L. C. Anderson ; trustees, Alessrs Franks, S. H. Anderson and A. W. Bremer; committee, Messrs Cooksley, Jessep, Afcl.eod, Harrison and 8. H. Anderson. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing officials, and: also to Air R. F. Renai for his . valued services as lion, auditor.

The question of open shoots was considered, and it was decided that the annual live oigeon match be held in or about National AVeek. That the shoot start in the morning, and the stake be increased from £SO to £lO9. Tt was also decided to cancel the usual Sentemb'U' clay match and substitute the 1930 Provineial Clay Championship, to bo followed by a £SO clnv match. The Juno open ylav match stake was also increased to £SO. Consideration of .a Indies match mas given, and it was derided to leave this matter for the consideration qf the incoming committee.
