A message from Kempsey, New South Wales, states that the three children, two girls and a hoy, of Mr Charles Barnes, school teacher, of Quainhone, were drowned at Jerscyvillo. Mr Barnes, with his wife and children, was picnicking at the beach when the mother scalded herself while making the tea. Mr Barnes, put 1 the family into his car with the intention of seeking medical aid. Driving rapidly, lie lost the way, and unwittingly drove into the Macleay River. He and his wife were washed to the surface, hut the children were trapped under the car hood and were unable to he rescued.
