RESIGNATION OF A VICAR. AUCKLAND, Octoblr 30. The vicar of St. Matthew’s Church, Morrinsville, the Rev. F. W. M likes, has accepted a call to the parish of .Northcote. In making thei announcement to liis parishioners Mr W ukes said • “I mav have had the sympathy of all of von for a long time in a somewhat difficult and delicate position. As vou know. I do not soe eye to eye wit n the Bishop, and as he was the only man I know in Now Zealand when I arrived the position has been a very awkward one. This is not the, first time on which I have received a call to another pgjyis’i. On this occasion 1 am acting on the advice of those whose opinion I value liiglily, particularly that of his Grace the Archbishop, and have sent in my resignation to the Bishop and to the vestry.” Mr Wilkes’ term will ejmre about the middle of January.
