DETECTIVES’ TIMELY ARRIVAL.
(United Press Association—Copyright Y- ’ SYDNEY, This Day. "* A gang of four men ambushed a. timber worker at Alexandra last night. They closed on their .victim, but simultaneously detectives were on the spot and exciting incidents followed. Detective Caiman was assaulted. 1 our shots were fired. One man was handcuffed and arrested. He will be charged with assault.

James Cable, aged 24, convicted of a brutal assault on Constable Brown, ette, who was acting as escort for a timber lorry, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
