ACTRESS MURDERED.

SUICIDE OF PERPETRATOR. (United Press As weiation—Copyright) NEW YORK, June 9. Margaret Lawrence, < one of the most noted actresses in America, was murdered in her mid-town apartment by an actor named: Louis Bennison, who committed suicide after leaving a note as follows: —“The sunset has a heartlook for us there.”

The motive baffles the police, but it is believed Bennison shot the actress and himself in a mania for sedf-de-strnction which his friends say often possessed him after ho had been drinking. The room where the bodies were found was littered with bottles and glasses.—Australian Press Association.

Margaret Lawrence was born in Trenton, U.S.A., in 1889. She made her first appearance on the stage in Chicago, when she was aged 21, in “Her Son.” She scored a success in “Over Night,” after which she retired from the stage for seven years after being married l , re-appearing in 1918 in Washington as the wife in “Tea for Three.” From that time she played constantly in the American cities. She was twice married, first to Lieutenant-Commander O. D. Nunn, the marriage being dissolved, and then to Wallace Eddinger, the actor.
