SIX FOREIGNERS CAPTURED. HUNDREDS OF CHINESE v MASSACRED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SHANGHAI, June 9. Bandit hordes descended upon Shekiehen, a city west of Honan, according to reports received here from the China Inland Mission, capturing six foreigners and holding them to ransom. The names of the captured are: Mr and Mrs Ernest Weller, Mr and Mrs John Walker and child, and Miss Brook.

The bandits razed the city, massacring hundreds of Chinese and carrying off loot. The raid was made possible owing to the withdrawal of Feng Yuh-siang’s military garrison, due to strategic measures for the forthcoming struggle against Chiang . Kai-shek. Australian Presd Association.
