NEW SOUTH WALES 128. ENGLAND FOUR FOR 144. (Uaited Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 18. The New South Wales y. England match was continued to-day. The captains, after inspecting the wicket at noon, decided to examine it againofcfc I p.m., the overnight rain having affected it. On the second occasion the captains resolved on another inspection at 1.45', when a definite start was fixed lor 2.15. Hendren fielded instead of Sutcliffe, who was suffering from a strained shoulder. Eleven balls finished New South Wales's innings, two runs being added. After Freeman had bowled an over White got Morris, caught at first slip by Hendren, and McNamee was caught at mid-on by Mead, successive balls taking two for none to-day, and in all White took five for 48.

England lost Leyland early. He just touched a ball from Fairfax which rose almost shoulder high, and was easily caught by Hooker at first slip. Tyldesley, when seven, swung the same bowler high to leg. Marks judged well, but missed the catch. Hooker, McNamee and Marks were tried as bowlers, but all kept the balls too short, enabling the batsmen to hook them. None of the bowlers took advantage of the state of the wicket.

Hobbs, when 39, reached forward to Fairfax. The ball cut through sharply, striking the off stump. The batsman had been in 75 minutes, and had hit only two fours. At tea the score was two for 71. Two wickets fell quickly after the resumption of play. Mead was magnificently taken low down at first sjip by Fairfax off Hooker. Chapman, when four, gave the same fieldsman an easy chance, the ball rebounding from his' chest to the tm-f. The English captain at eight lifted Fairfax high to mid-off. Bradman, after a short run, took a good catch. Tyldesley and Ames played out time. The former was uncertain with many strokes, frequently mis-hitting, though without giving a chance. He scored a splendid six with a straight hit off Fairfax? Ames was very sound. Fairfax, with tfiree for 36, kept a better length after tea. Oldfield kept wickets well, not allowing a solitary extra. An appeal against the light at 5.40 was upheld. The attendance was 7300, and the receipts £453. Scores:
