Thomas Arblaster, aged 56, a dairyman, to-day wished his housekeeper, Margaret Smith, aged 52, a Happy New Year, then fired a revolver, wounding her in the neck and shoulder. Ho then turned the weapon on himself and fell dead. The motive is not disclosed, but it is believed that Smith had refused to marry him. —Australian (Press Association.
