OBITUARY.

MRS EMILY EDE. A pioneer of the Ashburton district, Mrs Emily Ede, widow of the late Mr Benjamin Ede, passed away at the County Hospital yesterday at the of 81. Mrs Ede, who was then Mrs Broker, arrived from Britain about 1878, and came to reside in the Ashburton County. In 1911 Mr Broker died, and five years later Mrs Broker married Mr Ede, and resided at Wellington St., Hampstead. She took an active interest in the Anglican Church and its various bodies. Mr Ede died some two years a"o. Mrs Ede leaves three sons and four daughters (Mesdames B. Osborn and E. Spicer (Ashburton), W« Gillott and F. Ridler (Wellington), Messrs J. Broker (Ashburton), and J±. B and W. Broker (Hastings). Thereare 52 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren.
