The Rev. M. W. P. Lasoelfcs (secretary of the Baptist Union of New, Zealand), who represented New Zealand at the Baptist World Congress at Toronto, returned by the Maunjjanui last night. Mr J. G. Gow has been re-elected & member of the'Canterbury EducationBoard from the Timaru urban area,Tbe voting was: J. G. Gow, 24; J. Preen, 14. Mr C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., is indisposed at his home in Timaru, and was unable to preside over the sitting of the Magistrate's Court in Ashburton to-day. Mr F. M. Spellerberg, who was one of the founders of the Ashburton branch of the Canterbury Automobile Association, and has been a member of its Council since its inception, was tendered a farewell by the members of the Council at the monthly meeting last evening. The president (Mr N« Wood) referred to the keen enthusiasm that Mr Spellerberg had always shewn in any matter pertai» ; ng to the Automobile Association. The Tesignation, through ill-health,, of Mr T. F. Martin from the position of secretary and solicitor of the Municipal Association of New Zealand wasaccepted yesterday by the executive of the Association. The Association placed on record its appreciation of Mr Martin's services to the Association extending over a period of 30 years. His son, Mr J. M. Martin, was appointed to carry on as actingsecretary until the next municipal conference.
