DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED. FORGERY CHARGE AS SEQUEL. .Per Press Association.) HAWERA, This Day. The speed and erratic course of a. motor lorry dashing south through Eltham caused the borough inspector to telephone to the police at Hawera, with the result that the vehicle was stopped here half an hour later. The driver, Stanley Burton Robertson,, pleaded guilty before Justices of the Peace this morning, and was sentenced to 14 days’ imprisonment on a charge of having been drunk, while in charge of a motor vehicle. He also pleaded guilty, and was fined £1 on each of two charges, of driving without a license and driving a vehicle without the current number plates. 1 Police records disclosed that Robertson was wanted on information laid in September, 1926, alleging forgery of the name of Charles Harreyjto a letter at Dunedin, thereby obtaining goods to the value of £6 19s. He was remanded to appear at Dunedin next Saturday on this charge.
