Immense damage, as the results of the floods, occurred at the Mount Morgan mine, where a dam broke following 10 inches of rain on Friday. The water rushed into the houses and shops. Residents spent a night of terror, and next morning looked upon a scene of desolation.

The gas mains were exposed, fences were down, and debris and furniture was floating everywhere. Two more fatalities are reported, Thomas Major, aged eight, being drowned at Graceville, and Kathleen Duffy, a girl, being drowned near Rockhampton.—Australian Press Association.
