MOTOR INTERESTS.

THE NORTH ISLAND UNION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 23. At the half-yearly meeting of the North Island Motor Union to-day, it was decided that a deputation wait upon the Railway Department with a view to endeavouring to have all level crossings exposed to the utmost extent, and asking the Department to cooperate with the local bodies to have all obstructions removed, in order to give greater visibility. A motion was carried: —"That in view of the fact that the union has been approached by associations in respect to the price of petrol now charged in New Zealand, as compared with that charged in other countries, an endeavour be.made to induce the oil companies to reduce the price charged to consumers." 'lt was decided to send a deputation to the Government asking that the [ penalty for converting a car to a I person's own use be made more severe.
