A distressing' fatality occurred late yesterday afternoon ait Mangakara, near Oliura, when a youth, Robert Humphreys, aged 19, was killed as a result of a tree which he was chopping down falling on him. Death was instantaneous. t MOTOR-CYCLIST INJURED. HOKITIKA, This Day. As the result of a. collision between two motor-cycles at the intersection of Rolleston and Stafford Sti*eets, Edward Rooney, a telegraphist, of Kanieri, was admitted to the Westland Hospital with his right leg fractured at the thigh and both bones,of one arm.broken.'The other rider suffered" only bruises. Both motor-cycles were considerably dam- ■ aged.
