A KNIGHTHOOD
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GOVERNOR. (Tor Press Association —Copyright.) LONDON, January 24. Major-General the Hon. Alexander Ho re-Ruth ven lias been gazetted a Knight Commander of St. Michael and St George on his appointment as Governor of South Australia, in succession to Sir Tom Bridges. Major-General Sir Alexander HoreRuthven, V.C.. D. 5.0., has commanded the Ist Infantry Brigade at Aldershot since 1924. He saw active service in the Sudan in 1898 and during the Great War in France and Gallipoli. In 190 S lie was Military Secretary to J the Governor-General of Australia.
