VMent wind-storms throughout the 'Western United States killed 10 and Smtfred many. The damage to property at present is not estimable The gale reached a velocity of 70 •miles an hour. Pedestrians in New York City fought *heir way to subways in the elevated stations against wintra that made walking arduous. The waters in the harbour were churned by the gale, swamping two boats at the docks. All liners were delayed. Many injuries were caused when persons were unable, through the force of the wind, to dodge automobiles.
