EMPTIED FOOD ON CAPTAIN. AUCKLAND-, January 19. "Guilty, but I had some provocasaid James Meeks, aged 40, charged in the Police Court with assault. ' It was explained that Meeks, who was a shin's fireman, was dissatisfied •with the food served aboard ship and complained to the captain, Alexander McKenzie, to whom he exhibited a dishful of food on the bridge."I eat that," the prosecution quoted the captain as having replied. Meeks had retorted, "Well, eat that," and so saying he had tipped the dish and food over the captain's head. The Magistrate, Mr F- K. Hunt, remanded accused until to-morrow for sentence.
