Herr Wilhelm Groener has supplanted Dr. Gessler as Minister of Defence. Ho sprang itito world prominence during the war. He controlled railway operations until 1916, when he took charge of the economic mobilisation of the civilian population He succeeded Von Ludendorff m 1918 as Quartermaster-General. He played a decisive role in the Kaiser's flight to Holland, for which the Nationalists are still reproaching him, alleging that he misled the Kaiser.
