U.S. NAVAL POLICY.

SIGNIFICANT ANNOUNCEMENT.

(Per Press Association—Copyright.) WASHINGTON, January 16.

What is considered an important indication of -the naval policy of the United States is seen in an announcement that both the new aircraft carriers, the Lexington and the Saratoga, which were recently commissioned have been assigned to the Pacific Battle Fleet.

It was originally intended that the Lexington should be the flagship of the aircraft squadron of the Atlantic scouting fleet. Both vessels together carry 166 aeroplanes and 200 aviators.
