RIOT AT ALDERSHOT.
CELEBRATION OF HOGMANAY. PIPER PLAYS BAGPIPES. LONDON, January 4. Like the Pied Piper, a Scottish piper marched through the streets of Aldershot at the height of the riot which took place as an outcome of the Hogmanay celebrations, and immediately the men responded to the skirl of the bagpipes and marched in formation to the" barracks. Later the rioting in the Salamanca barracks broke out afresh, and scores of windows were smashed, and the men rushed to the police station and ineffectually demonstrated for the release of a comrade.
