VALUELESS CHEQUES.
TWO YOUTHS IN TROUBLE. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 12. Mr Hunt, S.M., commenting on a case in which two youths, aged 19 and 18 were charged with obtaining goods by’ fneans of valueless cheques, said they had bought a mandoline and tendered a cheque for £ls, which was accepted. He felt very much inclined not to make any order for restitution. . The chief detective said people did not want to turn away business. Accused were placed on probation for two years and ordered to make restitution of the total sum involved, nearly £4O.
