VICTORIAN TOWNS MENACED. (Per Press Association—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, January 12 Bush fires are speeding through the Otway and Dundenong Ranges . causing extensive damage. A number of; homesteads were destroyed, and much valuable timber in the beech forest was: demolished. Several townships were saved only by fortunate changes or wind. DAMAGE IN TASMANIA. HOBART, January 12. Bush fires are raging in the southern parts of the Huon district,.and on the* West Coast. They are causing heavy damage.
