It is understood that at a meeting of the Pacific Cable Board ihifc afternoon Canada, frankly criticised' again the Board's policy of duplicating the cable, in the face" of Canada'!* protest and experts' advice that it would be better to. wait till the result of wireless competition was seen, it is pointed out that the heavy outlay- of duplicating the cable has affected the Board's prospects. . The affairs of the Pacific Cable Board were repotted in November to be causing concern to the four'Governments interested. The Board was said to be suffering heavy losses through the competition of beam wireless. Later, after thero had been much discussion on the respective values oi cables and the beam, the British Government arranged a conference of wireless and cable interests to consider some i. method of co-ordination, of the services.
