BUSH FIRES.
A TOWNSHIP THREATENED. (A.P.A. and "Sun" Gables.) MELBOURNE, January 11. Bush fires are raging in the Bendigo and Ballarat districts. In the latter, the township of Scarsdale is threatened with extinction, and women and children are being removed to safety. TWO HOUSES BURNED. GREAT LOSS OF PROPERTY. (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. A bush fire, sweeping through thick bush country at the basin near Bayswater, did considerable damage to property. Two houses were burned. _lt is feared that several others were gutted. The fire is still raging. A large force of fire-fighters are in attendance.
