HARBOUR COLLISION

JUDGE CAMPBELL'S FINDING. CRITICISM BY SHIPMASTERS. (Per Press SYDNEY, January 10. A meeting of twenty-live shipmasters at the Merchant Service Guild" adopted a resolution stating that Mr Justice Campbell's finding in connection with the Greycliffe disaster involved a physical impossibility, inasmuch as it was impossible for tha Tahiti to approach tlie Greycliffe from any direction from ten degrees to ninely degrees on the port quarter and to bring about an impact -,vith the Greyclifl'e with nay part of the Tahiti except bt-r stem. Shipmasters also expressed the opinion that if the collision was brought aout by the stem of the Tahiti striking the Greycliffe, at an angle of twenty degrees, as found by the Court, ic would not cause the Greycliffe to take up a position which would eventually and shortly afterwards allow tre Tahiti again to strike the Greycliffe at ar. angle of from forty-five to seventy degrees at a spot on the side of the Greycliffe forty feet ahead of the place where the Court held the first impact took place. The meeting also determined that the position should not be allowed to remain as it is, and further meetings i.re to be held.
