ALLEGATION DENIED.

CONDITIONS ON A STEAMER. AUCKLAND, January 9. In replv to a signed statement to the American Consul by four men of the ship West Tagus, Captain Wilhamsen, master of the vessel, and the chief engineer, Mr Cordall, emphatically denied all the allegations of the men, including complaints with regard to the water supply and the food. _ They denied the allegations of objectionable language and threats by officers during the voyage from America. An outsider, who had meals in the vessel, substantiates the statciuents of i,be captain and the chief engineer. One matt, said to be the instigator of the trouble, was signed off on Saturday. The rest of the crew are working quietly to-day.
