NOEL’S GREAT HOLD.
OBSERVANCE IN RUSSIA. SOVIET VERY ANGRY. (Per Press Association —Copyright.' . (Received This Day, 11.4 Q a.m.) LONDON, January 9. The Riga correspondent of “The Times” reports that the Soviet is angry at the failure of'.the anti-religious Christmas campaign. The Komsomoltsi (the Young Communist League) circularised branches throughout Russia complaining that not only f'O peasantry but also considerable n ssesl of workmen still insist on observiu ; Christmas on January 6, according to the old style calendar, which the Soviet abolished. More energetic steps are enjoined for thwarting the religious enemy which is. polluting the mindr. of, and gaining influence over, the Soviet citizens. . The circular concludes/; “This is a real danger. The towns are worse than the countryside. New religious sects are springing up, encouraging parents to teach their children good manners and politeness and to abstain from bad language. The Komsomoltsi must end this.” '
