FIRE BRIGADE.
THE METHVEN ORGANISATION. The annual meeting of the MethvenVolunteer Fire Brigade committee was held in the Mount Hutt Road Board's office last evening, when Mr S. Smith presided oyer a .very moderate attendance. The balance-sheet showed receipts amounting to £215 9s 3d, including, subscriptions £56 9s, donations £2O 6s 3d, First Alarm Concert Party £B60s 7d, Ashburton County Council grant £42 2s, proceeds from dance £lO 10s sd. The expenditure totalled £195 18s Bd, including reel hose and hydrant £94 0s lid, uniforms and equipment £65, leaving a credit balance of £l9 9s 7&* • v'' 411 The election of officers resulted:Committee, Messrs W. A. Shemeld (chairman), Stanley Smith, W. C. Battson, W. J. Owen, S. Buckett, W. Morgan, J. McD. Anderson, K. Aitken, M. I. Stone, J. F. Stone, J. A Allen and H. Fryer (Superintendent) • hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr A. G. Foreman.
