DEBT FOR CLOTHES.
ASSIGNEE'S OBJECTION. AUCKLAND, Juno 14. "I don't think that this man had any justification for incurring a deht or £SO for clothes when he was fairly heavily in 'deht," said the Official Assignee this morning at a meeting of the creditors of George Charles Gilmoro (junior), commission agent at Epsom. "He is a single man and I make it an invariable rule to oppose the discharge of single men nntil they have made some effort to repay a part of what is owing. The man certainly was unfortunate and was unable to follow farming work, to which ho was ' rained, having come to the city to scratch his own living, hut I don't think he should get a discharge without an effort. Bankrupt: I certainly intend to make an effort. I don't intend to sit hack The Official Assignee: That is what the majority say wheni they find themselves here. ' Unfortunately! only a small proportion do pay. The liabilities, all unsecured, were £253 4s, and the assets nil. A creditor remarked that a man who incurred a £SO deht for clothes when he was not earning £250 a year was carrying optimism to the limit.
