WHAT AMERICA NEEDS
SPEECH BY THE PRESIDENT. RELIGION. EDUCATION, WORK. (Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.5 a.m.) NEW YORK, June 14. At Hammond (Indiana) the President (Mr Coolidge) dedicated the Wicker war memorial, which is a recreation centre in the heart of the industrial section of the town. He declared that America's present needs were increased educational advantages, suppression of crime, old-fashioned religious devotion, more work for unskilled labour, and patriotism at the ballot-box. Mr Coolidge emphasised his points by tracing the development of the United States during the past few decades. He dwelt on her prosperity and achievements, and pointed out what he considered was still needed. At the conclusion of the speech, Mr and Mrs Coolidge resumed their journey to Blackkills, South Dakota, for I a vacation.
