PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. The autumn meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club was opened in fine weather. The course was somewhat heavy after recent rain. Results:—
Woodhey Handicap.—l Town Bird 1* 2 Waicullus 2, 6 Manly 3. Scratched —Popoff and Bon March. Won by half a head, third two lengths away. Time—--1.15 2-5 sec. As a result of ai protest by the owner of Waicullus, in: the first race placings of the firsfr and second horses were reversed, Waicullus being placed first and Town Bird second.
Prince of Wales Handicap—l2 Black Mine 1 4 Civility 2, 7 Youma 3. Scr— Eden Hall, Siaosi, Beaumont, Blue Peter. Won by barest margin. Time—--1.55. '
Katere Hurdles—9 San Pedro 1, Brigadier Bill 2, 5 Ardath 3. Scr— Mount Marta. Won by a length, one and a-half lengths between second and third. Time, 3.15 1-5. . f Tamatai Handicap—l Cohesion 1, 11 Koauau 2, 5 Capitulation 3. Scr: Radiate, Paitonlu, Bent. Won by a length and a-half, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.58. Sires' Produce Stakes—2 Thaw 1, 1 Gascony 2,2 Damans 3. Also ran: 1 Great Charter. Won by a neck, two lengths between second and 1 third. Ser: Gold Cup, Joy King, Reremoana. NEWMARKET GUINEAS. (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) LONDON, April 27. The Two Thousand Guineas (Newmarket) resulted:—Adam's Apple 1, Coll Boy 2, Sickle 3. There were 23 starters. The race was won by a short head.
