RIFLE SHOOTING. ASHBURTON GUN CLUB
Blazing sun and a rough wind made conditions unpleasaint for a match fired by the Ashburton Defence Rifle Club on Saturday afternoon. The conditions were 10 shots each at 500 yards and 600 yards. E. C. Baker was the winner, R. Bramley being runnerup. Scores are as follow.—
BOWLING. RINK MATCHES PLAYED. Playing on the Ashburton Bowling Club’s greens in ideal weather on Saturday afternoon, A.shburton B. defeated Ashburton A. in a rink match by 84 points to 73. BOXING. EDWARDS KNOCKED OUT. (Press Association —Copyright.) SYDNEY, January 23. At the Stadium, Roy Moore, of America, outed Billy Edwards, middleweight champion of Australia, in ten rounds, when the referee stopped the fight. The display of both men was poor. Edwards had trained for only a few clays. Moore’s methods were crude, hut he dropped his opponent thrice in the last round. The crowd was disappointed, and frequently hooted.
