ELECTRIC RAILWAYS.
INAUGURATION IN FRANCE. (Press Association--Copyright.) PARIS, December 29. A sixteen-wheeled electric locomotive used at the inauguration of the new Paris to Vierzon service hauled a 400 ton train 145 miles, at an average speed of 81 miles an hour. The power supplied was hydro-electric. The service forms part of a comprehensive plam to render the French railways independent of foreign coal.
