ACCIDENTS & DEATHS.
YOUTH FATALLY SHOT. (Per Press Association.) MASTERTON, December 27. The death occurred at Greyitofwn Hospital to-night of Kenneth Port, aged nineteen, a son of Mr W. D. Port, of Feilding. The deceased, with three other youths, was spending his holidays shooting Pear Martinborough. While tramping through the hush a rifle was accidentally discharged and the shot entered Port’s knee. He was admitted to the hospital, where the leg was amputated on Saturday night, but lie gradually sank and expired this evening. DEATH FROM APOPLEXY. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 27. On Christinas Eve an elderly man, Mr John Kennedy, was arrested and placed in a cell in the Taranaki Street station on . a charge of drunkenness.
When he was visited at an early hour next morning he was found dead. At the inquest to-day Dr. Lynch said it was not likely that deceased had had a great deal of liquor. Death was due to apoplexy. Deceased’s appearance would stimulate that of a deeply intoxicated man. A verdict in accordance with the medical evidence was returned.
