ESCAPADE SOLD. Mr W J Morland has sold the six-vear-old trotting mare Escapade, by Nelson Binigen from Country Belle, and
she will go into R. B. Berry's stable at New Brighton. Escapade was tried first as a pacer, but, though, she showed great speed, her stamina did not satisfy her breeder, who subsequently converted tier to Uc trotting gait. She raced only once ujs a four-year-old, when she was unplaced in a slow class race at the winter meeting of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club. Two months later, she worn) a race at the August meeting of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting! Club. Then she went to Auckland, where she scored a win and a second. On her return, she scored again at Addington in November, covering two miles in 4min 36 3-ssec. A third at New Brighton and three unplaced performances finished her racing last season, while she was out of a place in her'onlv start this season. Escapade is generally regarded as one of the most brilliant young trotters ever bred in the Dominion. The price which Mr Morland received for her has not been disclosed, but it is known that lie refused a four-figure offer prior to b-sr success in Auckland last season.
