WAIMANA'S IMMIGRANTS,

NO COMPLAINTS IN* DOMINION.

SHIP FULL, NOT OVERCROWDED

The agents of the steamer Waimana, questioned regarding 'the complaints ventilated in the House of Commons from immigrants who travelled to New Zealand on that ship, state that they have not heard them. Tins'is corroborated by the Assistant Immigration Officer, Mr V. A. Mills, who dealt with the Waimana's passengers on their recent arrival at Auckland. He states that all the immigrants came before him when the ship arrived, and they had the opportunity of expressing their opinion regarding either the' accommodation or the food. Nothing of a critical nature was heard, and the usual inquiry of the captain on the subject, being told that there had been no representations. The Waimana had cabin accommodation for the 859 rasseners, thouah they were allowed to. sleep on the decks in the tropics. Th<? same steamer had carried a much larger numbr of troops during the war. There was no snare room on the reo?nt voyacre, but was no overcrowding, and the Board of Trade regulations were observed.
