REVOLVER SHOTS FIRED*
POLICEMAN IN MOTOR-LORRY

A bank manager’s pluck, followed by a thrilling street chase, frustrated a daring attempt to; hold up the Copnor branch of Lloyd’s Bank at. Portsmouth, A smartly-dressed young man enteredthe premises and' presented a revolver at the manager, saying: “ Give me all you have got. This is loaded.” The manager edged toward the door, but the intruder ordered him to halt. The latter then grabbed a bundle of £SO notes and dashed out, with the manager, in pursuit. A hue \,and cry followed. The fugitive mounted an unattended bicycle, but a motor-car chased and ran him down. The bandit, Being unhurt, sprang to his feet and fired a revolver at the ear, smashing the window screen and bursting a tyre. A policeman, boarding a motor-lorry, caught up to, overpowered him, and effected his arrest.
