CLIFDEN RACING CLUB

(Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Feb. 17. The Clifden Racing Club held its annual meeting to-day in good weather. The totalisatov handled £2785, as against 24133 last year. Results:—

Lilburn Handicap, of 50 sovs f six furlongs.—Bilbo 1, Lady Balboa 2, Ballymepa Lass 3. Won by three lengths. Time, 1.19 2-5.

Tuatapere Trot Handicap (in saddle), of 65 sovs; one mile and a-half.— Spring Chimes 1, Dixie Dillon 2, Revest 3. Won by a length and threequ aiders. Time, 3.47. Belmont Hack Handicap, of 60 sovs: seven furlongs.—Navy Cut 1, Highburn 2, Ngarata 3. Won by a neck. Time, 1.31 3-5.

Clifden Cup, of 100 sovs; one mile and a quarter.—‘Counterstroke 1, Beauty Light 2, Scamp 3. Won by five lengths. Time, 2.13. Orawia Steeplechase, of 85 sovs; two miles.—Lady Chicken 1, Dick Travis 2, Irish King *3./ Won by three lengths. Time, 4.25 3-5. Waiau Hack Handicap, of 60 sovs; six furlongs.—Bonnie Olive 1, Bilbo 2, Wolselev’s Gift 3. Won by a head. Time, 1.17 4-5.
