STAVELEY NEWS.

ROAD CYCLE RACE ARRANGED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The committee of the Staveley Sports Club met on Monday evening. Mr J. T. Hooper presided, and there were also present: Messrs S. T. Goldsmith, C. Cornick, R. Good, T. Burgess, and W. J. Stringer (secretary). It was decided to hold a 13-mile road race on March 6, starting at 6 p.m. The following officials were appointed: Starter, Mr G. L. Bufton; steward, Mr J. Gundry; timekeeper, Mr J. T. Hooper; judges, Messrs C. Cornick, A. J. Wright, and S. T. Goldsmith. A dance will be held after the race.

The Loyal Pioneer Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., held its regular meeting in the Staveley Hall on Saturday ing. The N.G., Bro. S>. T. Goldsmith, presided over an attendance of more than 30. Two brethren were declared on the sick funds. The lodge decided to support the remit from the Westland district in reference to the hazardous occupation table. Bro. S. T. Goldsmith was nominated for the District Committee of Management. One candidate was proposed and accepted for membership. Sick and accounts totalling £l9 19s 9d were passed for payment. At the close of the lodge a social hour was held. Items were contributed by Sisters P. Boucher and M. Chapman, and Bros. E. Naumann, J. and W. Chapman, L. Bentley, and D. E. Sawers. Bro. C. Sloper supervised the supper arrangements.
