GRAVE DANGER AT SEA.
SHIPS WITHOUT WIRELESS. PLIGHT OF SMALLER VESSELS. 'Per Press Association —Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, February 15. The Labour newspaper, the “ Daily Herald,” points out the grave danger attaching to 1300 British vessels now going to sea without wireless operators. It adds: “Commanders of the most powerful liners report the roughest ocean conditions for 40 years, while leviathans of the deep are arriving days late. Nobodv can help entertaining the gravest misgivings regarding the fate of many of the smaller vessels now.at sea. When huge liners are unable to make more than six knots against the gales, what is happening to tiny tramps deprived of the only means of calling for help ? Terrible tragedies may happen on the high seas. Several ships are already overdue.”
