Hie Bill would order a return of British companies doing business in Massachusetts to ascertain the total amount paid in premiums by these companies during the last five years “in odder to enable ti e people of the Commonwealth to take such action as they mav deem effective by way of reprisal.” Senator Hennessey asserted that 700,000,0000 dollars a year were taken from the United 1 States in excess prices by the British rubber “monopoly,” and that Press reports indicated that British interests had decided to support a Brazilian, coffee monopoly in a similar manner.
