(From Our Own Correspondent.) RUAPUNA. The Swimming Club recently held a successful fancy dress dance. During the evening new officers were elected, and a committee appointed consisting of Alisses E. Purchase, S. AlcSeveney, Alessrs W. Morris, C. .Williams, J. Conway, and H. Beaumont. Those in fancy dress were: —Alisses S. AloSweeney (Folly), E. Purchase (If Winter Comes), D. Sewell (Butterfly), J. Anderson (Ruination), E. Andeison (Night), M. Lane (Queen of Hearts), e' Lane (Red, White, and Blue), K. Lane (Chrysanthemum), V. Brown (Irish Colleen), L Boyd (Starlight), M. Boyd (Shamrock), E. Argyle (Morning Tub), J. Nish (Gipsy), and Alessrs H. Tasker (Pierrot), A. Glassey (Curate), J. Conway (Half Man, Halt Woman), E. Beckley (Bandsman), I. Brown (Red Indian). Prizes were won by Misses D. Sewell and E. M. Purchase.

rakaia. Tho final meeting of the committee of the Rakaia Football Club was held in the Library, Mr 0. Evison presiding. The secretary reported that there was a credit balance of £4 16s 8d from the annual ball. The chairman, secretary, and treasurer were appointed a committee to procure photographs ct the third grade team, winners of the Gala Cup. Several claims for insurance were received from injured players, and were passed for payment. A meeting of the committee of the Rakaia Athletic and Cycling Club was held in the Library on Wednesday evening, Mr B. McNamara presiding. A letter was received from the secretary of the Domain Board, stating that a close day had been granted for the annual sports meeting, and that the track had been drained but it would be inadvisable to have pipes put m till after the sports. The tenders of Airs Pye for the sale of ice-creams, etc., and Mr A. F. Kennett for the luncheon ; booth were accepted. A letter was received from the Tinwald Cycling dub advocating the appointment of one handicapper for all the clubs m the

district, and it was decided to support the suggestion. It was decided that the matter of arranging motor car driving competitions be left in the hands of Air ,G. Cromie. The secretary was instructed to write to the Ashburton Band in regard to at the sports. Air A. Shannon was instructed to make arrangements for the dancing stage. The name of. Air R. Baker was added to the committee.

OORIE. The Dorie Aliniature Rifle dub held a closing dance in the Ardamine Hall on Wednesday night. There was a large attendance. The hall was decorated with red, green, and yellow streamers, coloured lights, and butterflies. Air' Nicholls, captain of the Methven Club, presented the trophies, which were donated by the first-named, as follow: —Silver cup and gold medal for championship, D. Banks; Air R. H.
