technical reason why Bombay should not be reached from London in four days, Calcutta in six, Colombo in seven, Singapore in eight, and Melbourne in 13 days. A provisional agreement had already been initialled, the Minister stated, for taking the first step to inaugurate an aeroplane service to India. The route had been surveyed, and he hoped to make a beginning next year. Sir Samuel added that he hoped eventually to 6ee the Cape-to-Cairo route utilised. Captain Cobham was going to fly over the route this winter, and a service flight to show the British flag would traverse the same route next spring.
